Eagles Sweep Scholar Awards

Senior captains Justin Anderson and Nina Sawyer end their illustrious UMW careers as recipents of the stellar Scholar Athletes of the Year on Wednesday during the annual athletic awards banquet.  The school awards only two athletic department awards a year and this year swimmers were the recipients of both awards.  Because of this achievement, Nina is now nominated for NCAA Women’s Athlete of the Year award to be awarded later in 2010.

Swimming has now started a tradition of naming their own awards within the team.  The award recipients will now have their name on a beautiful plaque displayed at the pool.  The award winners for this season were:

MOST IMPROVED – Adriana Lesiuk & Colin Hess

MOST VALUABLE – Sarah Crockett & Justin Anderson

EAGLE AWARD – Nina Michelle Sawyer & Justin Anderson

Congratulations to our award winners this season, and congratulations again to all members of the team for an outstanding 2009-2010 season!

The 2009-2010 school year will wrap up at the conclusion of next week, with the team striving to achieve Academic All-American status and a team GPA of over 3.0.
